ATTENTION HUTCHINSON TRAYLOR BCBS of GA INDIVIDUAL MEDICAL MEMBERS

Written By: Michael Dollar

Date: October 18, 2013

If you haven’t already, you will soon be receiving a letter and packet from BCBS of GA regarding your individual health coverage.  The packet will include information about upcoming changes to your plan.  THERE ARE SOME VERY IMPORTANT ITEMS IN THIS PACKET THAT WILL NEED YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.

The “Personalized Open Enrollment Letter” will review your options which may include an option to RENEW EARLY TO KEEP YOUR CURRENT PLAN DESIGN.  We strongly encourage you to consider this option as the 2014 plan designs are VERY DIFFERENT from the current plans.  The network is significantly different (your physicians may no longer be in-network) and the prescription formulary has been reduced.  If you do elect the “early renewal option” you will be able to keep your current plan, network and formulary until December 1, 2014.  We hope that BCBS (and other carriers) will have offerings by that time more similar to your current coverage, network, and formulary.

PLEASE NOTE:  In order to take advantage of the “early renewal option” you MUST complete the “New Policy/Contract Offer Acceptance Form” in your packet.  The letter must be signed and received by BCBS of GA no later than November 15, 2013.

For more information on network and formulary changes, please visit the BCBS website (https://www.bcbsga.com/health-insurance/home/overview) and click on the link on the right side of the page that looks like this.
